After reading through comments on my post left by my peers, I have come to a conclusion of things to consider when creating my final magazine.
Photo shoot
I have come to a definite conclusion from my peers that props to determine a music magazine theme would be appropriate. I have an electric guitar that I feel will work very well to make sure that my magazine will not appear too 'fashion-forward'. The comments from some of my peers comment on the simplicity of my mock-ups; I feel that this could be caused partially by my images taken. Therefore, I will need to consider mise en scene especially as well as innovative shots that will be interesting to edit. 'Innovative' was also one of my 25 words in my pitch.
Cover
When creating my cover on photoshop, I have concluded that the saturation should be lowered to more monochrome tones as this was my initial idea and went down well with my peers. I feel that I will create a cover line that will decide the 'theme' of the issue, much like many magazines do. I am pretty decided upon 'The Music of British ROCK Youth', initially inspired by the 'British Youth' issue of Dazed & Confused. The comments have also made me consider more cover lines to add interest and to avoid my magazine looking too minimalistic.
Contents
I have decided that I will create my final contents page much like my mock up 3, inspired by 'Rolling Stone'. I feel that the order and clean lines used n the page connote professionalism and easy-reading and understanding for my audience. One of the main things I will use in the final editing stages is the use of large page numbers overlapping images of artists. I feel that this is something seen on many magazines and is something I have concluded from the contents analysis of both 'Q' magazine and 'Rolling Stone'. I will use multiple images on my DPS to add interest and make it easier for the readers to find the article they want to read. I feel that during editing, the images will possibly need to relate to my colour palette through editing of saturation and hue on Photoshop etc.
I will need to also make sure that my other articles listed on the contents page relate to the cover and are believable and in-keeping with the genre of my magazine.
DPS
After taking into consideration the comments my peers have left me, I now know that I will include my title and writing on the right-hand-side of my DPS as it is the first page the audience will see when they turn the page. The caption/quote overlapping the image that I have used on mock-ups 1 and 2 of my DPS has worked well also and from my peer assessment, I can decide that this is definetly something I will include during editing. Using more than one image has seemed to have a good response so I think that I will definetly do this. I also wanted to take interesting shots, especially an eye-catching one to place on the large page that the reader will remember seeing. The simple monochrome colour palette is something that has also had a good response and I will use this as a starting point when designing my final draft, later adding a more vibrant colour to avoid everything blending into the page. I have also decided that the layout of the 3 columns of text has worked well and looks clean and professional, so I will definetly set my article out in a similar way to this.
