I am inspired by this shoot from Wonderland Magazine Sept/Oct 2010, as I feel that it is in keeping with the sort of style and look I am aiming for in my magazine. I have scanned these DPS as Iam also inspired by the models positioning and the camera angles used. I feel that they look very professional, which is a necessity for this type of magazine, and are also edited with a low saturation/greyscale.
I have selected the first DPS as I like how the 'mug-shot'kind of look is shown with camera angles. I like the simplicity but also believe that it is very effective and striking. The image on the right is the sort of mid-shot image I am inspired to shoot my cover similar to, I think that this will prove very effctive during the editing process but I will need to remember to take plenty of other versatile shots so I am not tied down by one initial idea. I also like the styling of the models hairin a quiff, this is something I would like to consider when styling and dressing my model/artist.
The second DPS, I have chosen especially as I like the shot of the model sitting on the chair faced forward, back straight with loose hands and raybans. I am very intetrested and inspired by structured model positioning as I feel that it can look quite arty and maybe quite contrevercial which is oneofthe things I wanted to include in my magazine.
The last DPS is from a diffrent editorial shoot in the magazine but is very much in keeping with my vision for my magazine. I like how the model is lit almost in silouette against a white studio background. I think that this looks very cleverly shot and very professional and finished. It reminds me of almost a vintage James Dean movie. I like the styling of this model with the leather and the effortlesly quiffed hair, the facial expression used by this model seem very relaxed and quite masculine, I feel that the styling and overall shots relate to the genre of rock music.
